2008 BrANCH Conference at the University of Leicester, 19-21 September

The 15th BrANCH annual conference will take place from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st September 2008, at the University of Leicester.

Click here for details of the provisional programme.

Click here to download the registration form [YOU WILL NEED TO PRINT OUT THIS WORD DOCUMENT AND POST IT TOGETHER WITH YOUR PAYMENT] The form should be posted to: Dr James Campbell, BrANCH Conference Secretary, School of Historical Studies, University of Leicester, University Road, Leicester LE1 7RH, U.K.

Places are limited, so please send in the form to reserve a place now. For administrative convenience, we are asking for full payment with the reservation. This sum will be returned to you in the event that you have to withdraw, with a small deduction to cover administrative expenses and a larger deduction if you withdraw too late for us to cancel all the arrangements made for you at Leicester.

The full conference charge for residents covers the conference fee, plus bed and breakfast, morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea, a wine reception, and dinner for each of two days, from 4pm on Friday 19th to 6pm on Sunday 21st (wine at dinner may be extra). All resident accommodation is in single en-suite study bedrooms

The conference charges are:

  • Standard registration: £200 ($430)
  • Late registration (after August 15th): £220 ($480)

If you are interested in finding out about non-residential rates please contact the conference secretary.

Bursaries
We are able to offer a limited number of half-price bursaries to British-based graduate students and those seeking their first post, worth £100.00. If you wish to apply, please indicate on the form and send a deposit for £50.

Accommodation before and after the conference
Please note that it may be possible to stay at John Foster Hall on the Thursday night before the conference and/or the Sunday night afterwards. The rate is £37.50 per night and is on a bed and breakfast basis. Again, please indicate on the registration form if you are interested and we will provide you with further details.

Transport
Getting to Leicester by road or rail is (usually) very easy. Trains from London leave St. Pancras regularly and take between 70 and 90 minutes. We will be in touch later with further details about transport arrangements to and from the conference.

We very much hope to see you in Leicester in September, and therefore urge you to return the attached form and your payment now, immediately!
